Colin's Bike

Colin has really taken off on his bike the past month or so. He rides around the block and has a lot of fun making "skid" marks on the sidewalks. Of course we are so proud of our little cyclist and hope to see him riding the Tour de France someday! He and Daddy were watching the Tour a few days ago and he asked whether Daddy could ride in the race. Daddy replied no, that he wasn't fast enough for the Tour. Colin immediately asked what he could do to be in the Tour. Daddy smiled ear to ear and told Colin to ride his bike as much as possible and get super fast. Colin is trying!

Crawling - a race between brothers

Owen is much faster with his crawling now. He also thinks nothing of crawling the entire length of the house and going from room to room. Tonight he and Colin were crawling (a "race" of sorts) down the hall together. Colin was being a great sport about it and even let Owen "win".

Sparklers!

Colin's routine each evening involves a trip around the block on his bike followed by lighting some sparklers in our driveway. (We know, not the best activity for a 3 year old, but he is supervised!) Tonight he was lighting them in the yard and having a ball. Even Owen was enjoying the festivities, watching Colin's every move.

Water Park!

Upper Arlington has a great water park that Colin just adores. They have slides and water sprays and a lot of shallow water for the kids to enjoy. Amazingly enough, it is included as part of the summer pool pass that you can buy as an Upper Arlington resident. Here are some shots of Colin & Owen enjoying the fun.

Crib Fun

The boys have taken to playing in Owen's crib. This time it was brought on by lowering the mattress. It's especially fun since Owen can pull himself up on the railing now. He smiles ear-to-ear with his accomplishment.

Slip-N-Slide

Colin had fun playing with his slip-n-slide this weekend. That is, until he took the hose off and then broke the slip-n-slide trying to put it back on! Here on some shots "before" the big break... Have no fear, a Target trip was had to replace the slip-n-slide. Next time we won't let him be so clever with the hose!

One Messy Ice Cream Sandwich

Colin enjoys frozen treats a lot in this hot weather. Just yesterday we bought some ice cream sandwiches and he thoroughly enjoyed himself eating one of them. Unfortunately, he has not mastered the concept of eating without making a mess.

Rub A Dub Dub Two Boys in a Tub

Here are some shots of the boys taking a bath together. Owen insists on sitting up for his bath and has the best time splashing and watching Colin. Someday soon I'm sure he can join Colin in the big tub, for for now we'll keep him in his little tub just to be safe.

1-2-3 GO!

Owen is officially mobile! He started crawling on June 21st, to celebrate the first day of summer! He does more of an inchworm/army crawl combo right now, but he's picking up speed every day. He can go from crawling to sitting position and then back to crawling again. He also just today started pulling himself up. He's put his mind to being on the move now and he's really putting it all together! It's so fun to watch and we're so proud of him! He will officially be 8 months this weekend, my how time flies.

World Cup Fever

The boys have all caught World Cup Fever. Here they are sporting jerseys for their favorite team! We're all excited for another big match tomorrow!

Sitting Pretty

Owen is officially sitting up on his own these days. He will occasionally lose focus and fall over, but he is very happy playing on the floor and oh so happy to be reaching for toys and doing some independent play. He is trying very hard to crawl and does this "inchworm" crawl right now. Given the chance, he will get where he wants to go! Someday soon we hope for the real crawl!

Sharing a Drink?

The boys have these cute little chairs that are just their size. We recently found that Owen enjoys sitting in them and being independent while we enjoy some time outside. Here you can see them sitting side-by-side and Owen trying to share a drink with his unsuspecting brother who never thought he could reach that far.

A Few Random Shots

Here are a few recent random shots of the boys doing their thing! You can see Owen's way of "reading" a book means tasting it!

sliding fun!

We all, especially Colin, had a great time this weekend at the annual Spring Fest here in Upper Arlington. Every spring and fall they put on a special event for the kids, including many inflatables the kids can jump and slide on. They also had fire engines, ambulances, bomb squad trucks, street sweepers, diggers, mowers and tractors for the kids to climb on and "drive." The event is free and it's something we look forward to for months. Colin had a blast and here are several shots showing how much fun he had during the day.

A Few Fun Shots

The boys have been having some fun inside this week since the rain just hasn't stopped. We honestly have had one day without rain in the past 6 days... Owen is growing like a weed and is putting everything, I mean everything, into his mouth he can reach. As you can see, he even tried to eat Colin's hair/head! The sunglasses do nothing to hide your identity, Owen. We'll just call it a nice bear hug from the baby brother!

Old McDonald Had a Farm

We are members of a local CSA, Paige's Produce. http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M15746. Every spring and fall they have an open house at the farm where members of the co-op can come visit and see what's going on. Colin enjoyed the chickens last fall and couldn't wait to go back again this spring. The weather was cold and windy, so the festivities were hampered just a little. Fortunately, all the cookies didn't mind the cold weather and Colin got to see the chickens once again.
