The Park and The Diggers

We really enjoy the free entertainment we have around our house... Fancyburg Park is a great place to run off some energy and you can see Colin enjoying himself tremendously. And the construction continues on the street north of us, the diggers being an ever-present attraction for little boys. To Colin, there is no such thing as too many diggers.

A Toy That Works For Everyone

Colin finally picked out a toy we can all appreciate... a broom! Larson's on Lane Avenue sells great kids toys and this broom is a great example. Just the right size for a child and sturdy enough to actually sweep things. Colin was a big help to Daddy who was trimming ivy this weekend!

Boy Meets Hose

One of Colin's favorite things to play with is the garden hose. Even on the lucky days he gets pretty wet. As you can see, he's obviously not so bad since Mommy let him back into the house. (he got up on the counter himself, of course)

Some Fun Outside

Colin loves the outdoors. These are some fun shots of him outside yesterday doing "his thing." Today he's started asking me when the snow will come, he wants to make a snowman. I think he got the idea from a Curious George story, and I've even convinced him that he will enjoy shoveling the snow off the driveway. We'll see how anxious he is when it's cold outside...

Ever Wonder How Dandelions Spread?

Answer: (almost) 3 year old's who have a knack for finding them and blowing the seeds everywhere! Luckily he finds them in our neighbors yard and has yet to acquire enough patience to bring them back to our yard before scattering the seeds!

Hard at Work or Hard at Play?

Colin loves his toolbench... He uses it to "fix" things and it also doubles as a cooking device. He makes dough and bread with the sander and puts cookie sheets down below to bake. Imagination at work!

A Fun Week

It seems every week brings new adventures for Colin. This week the belt broke in our vacuum and Colin got to help Daddy replace it. We also dug out the old "ball tent" and Colin had a blast jumping in the balls and throwing them every which way. He even has his own ways of keeping warm on the cooler mornings we've had around here lately. Benj and I are continually amazed at how fast he is growing up (and how easily he voices his opinion these days!).

More fun with Friends

It's been a fun week with visits from out-of-town friends. We had an afternoon of fun with Jason and Nicole (Mommy's dear friend from college) and their son, Aidan, who is 4. The boys haven't been together in many months and this time Colin was finally able to hold his own and the boys had a great time playing. Typical of boys, play focused on soccer and filling the tractor with water. A great time was had by all and we are so thankful for the visit from our Vermont friends!

Brewing with Friends

This week we are enjoying a special visit from our west-coast friend, Brian Tuwalski and his son Thomas. When Brian and Benj get together things generally center on beer and beer-making. Lucky for them that the two boys are catching on fast. Here you see them eager to "get the malt going" as Colin says every Saturday. Another shot is of Colin in a happy mood one morning and it was just too cute to not post.

A Rough Week

Colin's week ended with an ear infection that came on suddenly on Sunday morning. We were able to get him seen at urgent care and started on antibiotics right away, so he bounced back in time to enjoy a popsicle later that afternoon. Also wanted to share a picture of a really cute craft "caterpillar" he made at school.

One Silly Boy

Colin started his week with a nasty fall off our couch... from which he landed straight into the coffee table with his head breaking the fall. He is very lucky and managed just a bruise on his forehead and a small cut above his eye. Thankfully no ER visit was required and he was back to his usual silly self after making some brownies with Daddy. (Mommy and Daddy, lawyers that we are, were happy we had Steve at our house as a witness at the time of the fall!)

Boys will be Boys

Colin spent time today "cleaning" the driveway with his chalk bags. It was great fun for all until Mommy realized it didn't just wash off in the pool, and a bath was needed before Colin started sprinting around the house with his green hands. We still have a wonderful "green" (and clean) driveway to show off to neighbors!

Dirt + Water = Mud

It's official. Colin has watched the diggers too much lately - he has his very own "job site" at our house and mixes water with the mulch and dirt to make mud. He uses his diggers and dump trucks to move it around the yard. At least the mess is outside and thank goodness for Crocs.

Summer Fun

Colin has taken a liking to dunking his head in any water he can find. In this picture he was cooling down while Daddy continued brewing. And while he's not always mischievous, he's always thinking of his next move.

Better Get The Malt Going!

Colin has quickly become a "Junior Brewer" in our house by taking a keen interest in Benjy's brewing operations. He wakes up, asks what day it is, and when he hears it is Saturday he says "Better Get the Malt Going." Although his interest is music to Daddy's ears, we wonder what his teachers at daycare think when they ask Colin what he did last weekend...
